Meet the team

Mick Williams

Mentor / Consultant

A seasoned cross-sector leader and consultant, Mick’s ‘sweet spot’ is ‘People and Change’.

Mick is now into his third career. Having joined the RAF on an impulse as a lazy, feckless teenager, he benefited from almost constant encouragement to develop personally and professionally, backed with the means to do so. Years later, he took his people skills and leadership experience into the world of management consulting, revelling in the variety, challenge, and new environments in which he found himself. Mick built a large and vibrant network of friends and professionals, which helped ease him into Career #3, which began when he decided to put a bit more life into his life doing worthwhile things with people he respects for organisations with a social purpose.

A seasoned cross-sector leader and consultant, Mick’s ‘sweet spot’ is ‘People and Change’, with the emphasis on the people. He has led teams large and small and served on and advised several boards, in both executive and non-executive roles, and has chaired a youth homelessness charity. Generally, he gets things done by driving the ‘engines’ of change, governance, and delivery, via a thousand conversations, and thrives when working and shaping cultures, people, and behaviours.

As a mentor, Mick has worked with the Whitehall & Industry Group, and with Coventry University supporting the Civil Service Future Leaders Scheme, coaching and mentoring aspiring leaders. His strengths include taking a strategic view whilst grasping detail; building productive relationships across organisational boundaries; resilience; speaking truth to power; communicating effectively; coaching and mentoring; and taking people and organisations with him. Mick’s development opportunities are far too numerous to list here, but feedback is always welcome, especially over coffee.
